People instinctively want to pick a side, and when you explicitly forbid the fence-sitting "both!" answer, you force genuine commitment — and then other people start replying to each other's choices. The "or is it just me?" tail is underrated. It creates a tiny vulnerability that's almost irresistible to respond to. People genuinely want to tell you it's not just you. 4. The Completion Prompt

Framework: "Fill in the blank: My [topic] era was defined by ___________."

Low friction, high engagement. People don't have to think too hard — they just complete the sentence. Works brilliantly for nostalgic angles (90s childhood, early college days, first job) but also for industry-specific content. "My early freelancing era was defined by ___________" will get every freelancer in your audience typing.

Framework: "I might be wrong about this, but [your actual opinion]. What's your take — am I way off base?"

Framework: "Drop the year and the thing: the year was [year], and I was convinced [specific thing from that era] was the peak of human achievement."

Nostalgia is basically a comment button in human form. The "drop the year" structure means people aren't just replying to you, they're sharing their own version — which means comments that are actually interesting to read, and that spark replies from other commenters too. Your post becomes the venue, not just the subject.


12. The "Teach Me Something" Ask

Framework: "I genuinely want to understand: [honest question about something you find confusing or want to know more about]. Explain it to me like I'm not an expert."
